'Alan and Kathleen live at Rydal Mount Wissett which is always opening its gardens to raise funds for charity including our Patrick Stead Hospital. Alan and Kathleen have sponsored our two new planters in the Market Place outside the Boarding House. They are also helping with a new look along Saxons Way by the entrances to our Town Car Park and our Halesworth Town Park.
As well as being extremely knowledgeable about plants and having a stunning garden Alan comes from a long line of family publishers going back to the 18th Century. Alan's Company recently won a Queens Award for industry. Below, one of Alan and Kathleen's Planters with their inscription taken from a lovely Rudyard Kipling poem To the Glory of the Garden, Alan and Kathleen at home and his grandfather's book on his explorations hunting birds on the White Nile in the Sudan - another Joseph Hooker!
