Draft Tour for Anglia in Bloom Judges 2017 
 
1) Meet at Hammonds Ford Garage, key Sponsor. 
- Introductions, coffee and comfort break
 
2) Drive to Triple Plea,
- *Drought friendly planting sponsored by Woottens
- Meet Karen Austin (Horticulturalist) for her to explain planting, mulching and using seedlings providing planting lists.
 
3) Drive to Halesworth Station. 
- Pass refurbished Town Sign Planter. 
- On arrival view Nature Reserve and meet Station Adopters Judith Woolnough and Fiona Fletcher (also Halesworth and District Gardeners Society representative) 
- Note 8 Planters and brick herb bed, Children's Planter, Hanging Baskets, Halesworth in Bloom Activities Board, Seat, Frontage and Hammonds and NFU planting  
- Note watering courtesy of Community bus team and Museum. 

4) Walk to Magnolia House,
- Noting restored ancient hedgerow with bird boxes and feeders Halesworth in Bloom Noticeboard 
 
5) Proceed to Hooker House birthplace of Joseph Dalton Hooker, 
- Note Planters and Collage, major National Heritage area linked with Kew,  
- Judges to receive Bicentenary Trail booklet and 2017 Bicentenary Programme by Halesworth in Bloom. 
- Have briefing on Importance of Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker FRS Director Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew friend and Colleague of Charles Darwin, 
- Note Special Needs Gardens at URC for Conquest Art Group created over 4 years. 
- Also Brownies Sunburst Garden. note their involvement with Housebounders gifts, gardening support bee and butterfly labels, ping pong ball protectors
 
6) Walk to *Business Thoroughfare Entry passing supporters labels, 
- Pass International Charity headquarters World Land Trust and see internal hanging garden and Joseph Hooker exhibition
 
7) View Community Herb Bed 
- Note herb planting with labels, take Advice sheet, note  double compost bins and water butt 
- Meet Valerie Large Sponsor and Manager 
- Discuss regular usage and value of cutting herbs
 
8) Go Into Halesworth Library 
- See Halesworth in Bloom Exhibition on frontage with Award winning Les Tennet floral designer's arrangement and Sally Marlow's paintings of Halesworth Hooker flowers. 
- Meet Librarians.
- Visit Children's Literary Garden and Catherine Draper Gardener and note Eastfeast garden bench and planters, Meraylah Allwood murals, wild life support, bugs,  bee and butterfly  friendly planting, water butts and compost bins. Another haven for wildlife.

9) Walk down Thoroughfare 
- Noting trees in planters, 12 floral planters, 70 floral frontages and 43 decorated bollards. List of 90 participants on  page of Portfolio
- Meet group of Business owners for their take on Planting and In Bloom activities including Karen Prime, Aiden Branch, John Palmer, Simon and Diane Self. 
- Also meet representative from Halesworth Volunteers and Befrienders who facilitate regular local  flowers and produce for Gifts for Housebounders HIB scheme in fifth year. Link to Brownies and Men's Shed
- Note water butts and watering systems, water container store, Bee and butterfly friendly planting with labels, Green bar Hooker associated plant labels, 
- Discuss planting medium - our compost, horse manure from donor and our Comfrey and /or hseaweed weekly feed when watering. litter and cigarette butts collection and weed removal 
- Meet group of volunteers
- Pass Town floral frontages and sponsored planting
- Stop at Memorial Garden note information Boards, Hooker associated plants, ASBO murals in shelters, compost bins, Water butts. feeders, bird boxes bug houses bee and butterfly friendly planting with children's labels, ping pong ball cane caps, Haven for residents and wildlife - Biodiversity Area
 
10) Refreshments and Comfort Stop at The Boarding House Garden 
- Meet Tyler and Pauline Torrance  and Corinne LevGrys and Anita Gonzales supporters
 
11) Car pick up and Drive to Beech House Residential and sheltered homes
- Visit *Alzheimer's Garden meeting Sonia Sherwood and team with residents noting Seaside Memories Garden, raised beds, vegetable beds, individual planters, chickens, Bird house, Sensory Garden, Seating Areas
- Foliar designed visual garden, orchard, floral trolley! Discuss involvement with and impact on residents
 
12) Drive to Paul Simpson's garden
- Note local Guerilla Gardening Queens Drive, London Road recesses, Beekeeper, and residential gardening and stop off at .
- Drive to Ann Boast Garden for viewing
 
13) Drive to Middle Car Park/Park entrance
- Visit *Town Park to see Entrance Beds and then new Town flagpole with Green Flag (news on 2017/8 result) and Park noticeboards, view information Board 
- Meet Stephanie Hammond (Horticulturalist) 
- Walk and follow Joseph Hooker Bicentenary horticultural  Trail and discuss clearing, planting donated compost, mulch, wired enclosures to reduce deer damage, 
- Watering from Town River, Town River water source (future plans from Halstead) , Navigation with information Leaflet
- Compost bins, seating, wildlife haven with information on what to look out for, bird and bat boxes, hedgehog house, children's bug houses and feeders, tree trail and labels
- Briefing on Children's logo following kingfishers fishing in Town River in Park ,*Havens for Wildlife - Biodiversity Area
 
14) Walk to Navigation and entrance to Millennium Green, 
- Leaflets 
- Meet Richard Woolnough and Gerald Burnes, Major national * conservation area of 55 acre of rare flood plain meadows managed to conserve native flora and fauna. 
 
15) Pick up TBC,  Drive to *Children's Allotment
- Meet Gillian Coulson and children representatives. 
- See water collecting container watering system, reclaimed polytunnel, decorative willow work, ping pong ball cane protectors, compost heaps, Childrens notes and records. 
- Second successful year of activities including Produce barbecues, Pumpkins watering systems, bean growing competitions, Halloween party
 
16) Drive to *Old Cemetery 
- View White beds notice board, 
- Leaflets on History and wildlife in box and drought friendly planting information 
- Meet Tour guide Janet Huckle, 
- Note seating, bird and bat boxes, Water butt and double Compost bins, 
- Meet representatives from Woolnoughs, a star Sponsors with Office with toilet (during office hours)
 
17) Drive to Hammonds 
- Comfort Stop 
- Final Briefing from Halesworth in Bloom Team leaders
